Only a week remains until the 2023 Minnesota Book Awards! Hundreds of writers and book-lovers from across Minnesota will converge in St. Paul on Tuesday, May 2 to celebrate the rich literary landscape right here in our own backyard. Tickets are still available to attend the ceremony in person at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts.
Did you know that United for Libraries hosts an annual celebration of library supporters? It’s called National Friends of Libraries Week – and conveniently for those of us in Minnesota, it falls every October. Do you love libraries, have experience with nonprofit accounting or bookkeeping, and experience partnering with wealth management firms on behalf of a nonprofit or small business? If so, MALF wants to hear from you! We're looking for a new treasurer, with a two-year term starting in 2024. Training is available on an as-needed basis.
Twin Cities Teen Lit Con, the state’s premier author expo devoted wholly to YA literature, is right around the corner! Teenagers and the young at heart are all invited to Two Rivers High School in Mendota Heights for the big event on Saturday, April 29 (10 a.m. – 3p.m.). Organizers are currently looking for teachers, Friends of the Library, and other adult volunteers to help make the event run smoothly.
Over the past 7 years, we have officially recognized no fewer than 90 honorees through video montages, conference presentations, letters to local elected officials, and other coordinated efforts. Stand Up for Standout Friends is officially back for 2023. It’s likely to hold distinction as the year we celebrate our 100th award winner, and we want YOU to help add to the class.
