Webinar Announcement: Warm Books for Cold Days
As the days grow shorter and colder, many of us indulge in the simple whim to hole up at home with a good book. MALF wants to make sure your “TBR” pile is well stocked with great Minnesota reads this winter. Please join us December 14 (12:00-1:00 p.m.) for our last webinar of 2022: Warm Books for Cold Days: Minnesota Authors Recommend.
This free webinar will comprise three separate sections. At the start of the lunch hour, sales reps and publicists from two of Minnesota’s preeminent presses will offer Friends of the Library a sneak peek at their upcoming winter/spring release schedules.
Graywolf Press is a Minneapolis-based but nationally renowned publisher of both poetry and nonfiction. Their past authors of note range from National Book Award winner David Treuer to U.S. Poet Laureate Tracy K. Smith to Oscar nominee James Franco.
Minnesota Historical Society Press holds distinction as the oldest publisher in the state – and the largest historical society press anywhere in the country. In addition to a prodigious output of books, MNHS Press produces the popular, quarterly Minnesota History magazine and “MNopedia” – a curated online encyclopedia centered around all things Minnesota.
After we hear from Graywolf and MNHS Press, MALF will present a montage of pre-recorded book recommendations from some of Minnesota’s most popular living writers. Contributors include mystery mainstay William Kent Krueger, children's authors Laura Purdie Salas and Molly Beth Griffin, and award-winning memoirist Anika Fajardo. We’ll be keeping the full list under wraps until December 14!
As time permits, we will wrap the 90-minute webinar with crowdsourced book recommendations from YOU!
