Barb Brylinke leads book sales for the Friends of the Heritage Library in Lakeville. According to her colleagues, Barb understands that the most important words at a sale are not those found in the books available to shoppers – they are those used in the promotional materials and wayfinding signage needed to make residents aware of and excited for the opportunity.
In addition to book sales, Barb heads up the Friends’ annual contributions to “Ready, Set Achieve,” the Lakeville Area School District’s annual school readiness event. Its intent is to level the playing field for all students by ensuring each incoming pupil is equipped with what’s needed for success – from basic school supplies to immunizations. The Friends donates more than 500 books each year to this worthy effort, and it would not happen without Barb.
She is also a ready and willing volunteer for the group’s other key activities, including the OneBook, OneLakeville community read series.
“Barb has a sunny and generous spirit, always bringing positivity and a smile to the library, meetings, and events,” shared long-time board member Loretta Ellsworth. “To say that she’s a cherished part of our Friends group would be an understatement!”
