As the year draws to a close, MALF must bid a fond farewell to a leader. Sheila DeChantal of Brainerd is rotating off after 3 years on our board of directors.
DeChantal’s name is one well known to Friends across Minnesota due to her talent for launching groundbreaking Friends programs that are successful, sustainable, and scalable. She is a driving force behind some of her area’s most innovative library programs: author galas Wine & Words and Words By the Water, book club Books, Burgers & Brews, and an annual Battle of the Books for area schoolchildren.
MALF has benefited from having DeChantal as a member of our own Programming Committee. Several years ago she even led a timely webinar herself about challenged and banned books; it proved our best-attended event of 2022 and one of MALF’s most popular webinars ever!
She will be missed and we wish her best of luck on future endeavors.
MALF is governed and operated by a volunteer board of directors and we’re always looking for new leaders. If interested in learning more, contact our Nominating Committee at info@mnlibraryfriends.org.
