MALF's raison d'être is to support Friends of the Library. We do so by connecting Friends organizations across Minnesota with each other and with learning opportunities that aid and augment their work. Fortunately for us all, we also have a strong counterpart on the national stage. United for Libraries is an arm of the American Library Association (ALA) devoted solely to library Friends and trustees. If their online summer conference is not already on your radar – it really should be!
United for Libraries Virtual is slated for July 30 - August 1. Full conference registration is just $149. If you cannot attend all three days, single day pass tickets cost $65/per. (Further discounts are available for ALA members.)
Panel topics will run a wide gamut: succession planning, donor engagement, marketing, public advocacy for library funding, championship of intellectual freedom, and much more. Go here to view the full (and jam-packed) programming agenda. Click here to register.
NOTE: If you are comfortable on Zoom and looking for a more hands-on role, UFL still has volunteer opportunities available for participants who want to double as hosts or chat room docents. Click here for the details.
