What have you been up to lately? It’s not a rhetorical question. Minnesota’s impressive Friends of the Library community orchestrate scores of creative and successful programs each year – and MALF wants to hear about them! Our annual Evy Nordley Award for Best Project is the perfect way to learn about and share community highlights from 2023.
Who can apply? Entrants must be based in Minnesota and attached to a public, K-12 school, college/university, or special library. Libraries themselves, along with individuals and non-library charities, cannot apply. There is no cost to enter this competition, but current membership in the MALF is a prerequisite for consideration.
What can you submit? Any Friends-supported project is eligible, provided that (1) project implementation began after January 1, 2023; and (2) either the Friends or their library was the primary beneficiary.
Common project types are successful fundraisers, membership drives, and advocacy campaigns – but the sky is the limit. In years past we’ve heard of Friends-sponsored spelling bees, soapbox derbies, and even chocolatier demonstrations!
Top prize is $1,000 - with additional financial prizes awarded for second and third place. Visit our website (here) for more details on eligibility and how to apply.
