TOMORROW is the cutoff to apply for United’s second annual Grants to U.S. Rural and Small Libraries program. (In its inaugural year, sponsor Penguin Random House awarded monetary grants and in-kind gifts worth $25,000!)

Who is eligible… and what’s available? Friends nonprofits that (1) serve small and rural libraries, (2) can demonstrate high community need, and that (3) have an actionable plan to assist are invited to apply for:

  1. Cash Grants ($500 and $1,000): These funds are earmarked specifically to help Friends groups bankroll priority projects — such as launching a major new author event, bolstering advocacy efforts, or tackling a long-delayed beautification project.

  2. In-Kind Book Grants ($500): Twenty libraries will receive a book donation grant to stock their shelves with fantastic new Penguin Random House titles.
