ALA's Public Programs Office invites public libraries and collaborating organizations to apply for the 2023 cycle of Great Stories Club (GSC).
Great Stories Club’s “raison d'être” is to give underserved youth the opportunity to read, reflect, and share ideas on topics that resonate with them. Courtesy of funding support from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the popular program has reached more than 700 libraries – and more than 30,000 young adults – to date.
What’s actually entailed? Grantees host reading and discussion events around book titles pre-selected by ALA (usually for a core group of 6-12 young people). In addition to a $500 programming grant, ALA will provide up to 100 participating libraries with free books, support materials, and staff training opportunities.
