Calling all Minnesota Citizens who care about libraries, those who volunteer in libraries, people who gladly donate books to their library's Friends or other support group, Citizens who often speak with friends and colleagues about the importance of libraries, voters who cast their vote - in everyelection - in conscious, informed support of laws and lawmakers that sustain and expand this vital institution. Libraries safeguard our right to freedom of information - as Americans, as Minnesotans, and as Citizens of our communities and workplaces, all of us must help to protect this freedom and the institution dedicated to this principle. We believe that grassroots support is the only way to make elected officials aware of how many constituents in their district are avid supporters of libraries - of every type.
Calling all people who would like to learn how to support libraries, in groups, as companies, as individuals - we can help you learn how to support libraries any way you care to lend your support. Today, we ask you to register and attend, if you are able. If you are not able to attend, how about writing or calling your state and local elected officials. Thank them for their difficult work, tell them that you care deeply about libraries and that you will be watching them closely to see how they vote on matters that affect your library.

More than anything, legislators need to see that their constituents value libraries.
